The Minnesota Vikings are sitting with a 6-1 record after the first seven weeks of the 2010 season. They have yet to have their bye week yet and they’re currently in first place in the NFC North division. The Vikings first loss of the season came this past week against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a final score of 27-17. The game was closer then the actual score appeared, but a couple costly turnovers in the red zone turned into TD’s the other way and proved fatal for the Vikings.

All the talk around Minnesota and most of the NFL this season is about Brett Favre. Everyone was curious as to whether he would still have enough in the tank to take the Vikings into the playoffs. It appears thus far that he still has a bit of magic left, but he also showed us in week seven that he can lose a game for you. Now the game against Pittsburgh wasn’t completely Favre’s fault by any stretch, but he did have a costly fumble in the red zone when the Vikings were down 3 points. The INT that he threw after the fumble wasn’t really his fault as his own guy tipped the ball.

So far this season Adrian Peterson has gotten off to a great start for every nfl betting player out there, and if you were lucky enough to pick him in your fantasy league then you will already know how well he is doing. Peterson already has 8 TD’s and has already rushed for 687 yards which is just shy of a 100 yard per game average. Chester Taylor hasn’t been seeing the ball that much this year and only has 111 yards on the season. Brett Favre has been doing a great job thus far working the ball around the field when on offence.

There are already five players on the team that have over 20 receptions with Sidney Rice leading the way with 34 receptions in seven games. Peterson has 18 catches on the season and should easily be able to break the 20 catch plateau next game. A total of five players have caught a touchdown pass from Favre this season as well which is good to see. The last thing people wanted to see this year was a one-dimensional offence. With Favre working the air it is leaving lots of holes for the running game which weren’t opening up last year.

The Vikings football odds defence has always been good and they are having an excellent year so far. Last week against the Steelers they had tons of pressure on the QB and didn’t give up many big plays. The only big play that they really gave up the entire game was the TD right before halftime. The two other TD’s that the Steelers got were both defensive scores. The defence has 24 sacks already in seven games which is very impressive and Jared Allen currently leads the way with 7.

The Vikings closest competition in the NFC North is Green Bay at 4-2, but the Vikings have already beaten the Packers once this year. The two teams play against each other again next week at Lambeau Field and it will be a huge game for both teams. If the Vikings win the game and move to 7-1 they will have a commanding lead of the division and it would be a catastrophe if they didn’t make the playoffs. If they lose next week the Packers will be 5-2 and the Vikings will be 6-2 which will make it a tight race right down to the end.
